When my (now) husband and I were talking about getting married, it came to my attention that a seemingly large portion of people that I had graduated high school with we’re also married or about to be, or were parents. Naturally, this got the collegiately inquisitive me thinking. What is it about 3 years post-graduation that puts so much pressure on young people to marry and settle down? I don’t regret for a moment being married, but it’s an interesting thought, nonetheless. Is there an unspoken rule? Or are we biologically programmed to behave this way?
